This painting came about as I wanted to depict the presence of Jesus Christ within my own life. In my journaling, I realized I was writing about things of little importance. I wrote about the mundane tasks I had done and the things I was worried about. It wasn’t very helpful and something I felt obligated to do rather than something that was productive for my Spirit. I decided to take the ideas of others, to record how I had seen the hand of the Lord in my life throughout each day. This challenged me and I could feel the stretching of my Spirit to find the cracks and crevices in which I had seen Jesus Christ’s influence. At first, it seemed hazy, as though perhaps nothing was there, or maybe I was allowing my biases to color what I was seeing. As I attempted this exercise my spiritual eyes grew more sensitive to his touch and I was able to understand his patterns and touches. He is there even when at first we may not see. It might take a moment, or stepping back to understand the picture presented to us. As the scriptures foretell, when he comes again, every knee shall bow, every tongue will confess that he is the Christ, we will all see Him as he is, his purpose and person will come into focus and we will realize the full extent of the influence that he has had on us during our lives.
