My wife conveyed a story to me that brought this image to my mind. My wife was at a time in her life where everything seemed to be overwhelming. Weighed down by the burdens she carried, she started to try and visualize the Savior. In this visualization, she imagined him coming to her, putting a comforting arm around her, and letting her weep on his shoulder. While they did not speak, the message was clear: despite my wife’s imperfections and inadequacies the savior was extending his arms of mercy to her. She wept as she felt the strength and kindness of those arms. She felt not only could she forgive herself, but she could move forward knowing that his arms of mercy were always extended to her.

In this image, I wanted to depict the love and mercy she felt and help others recognize those arms are extended to all. However, we can only feel the comfort of them when we choose to enter them.

Arms of mercy

My sister died by suicide twenty years ago. I was devastated. I said I could feel the arms of God around me holding me. It was the most comforting feeling I have ever felt. I haven’t felt it since. So when i saw this painting I knew I had to have it. Jesus holding me.

Beautiful representation of God’s love

I bought this specifically because the girl reminds me of my goddaughter. It’s gonna make a beautiful gift for her once I get it framed.
