YOU ARE LOVED

Amidst the turmoil of war-torn Ukraine, digital artist Alex Kovych unlocked a remarkable source of inspiration that transcends the chaos of war that surrounds him. Moved by the enduring faith and spirit of his community, he embarked on a journey to depict Jesus Christ in a unique and heartfelt way. With “You Are Loved” Jesus is portrayed radiating an inner warmth that counteracts the despair of war that engulfs Alex’s country. The Story Behind "In Her Midst"

"This piece is about the moments in which I see my Heavenly Mother. I see Her in the dedication my sister shows in parenting her young children. I see Her brilliance in my childhood best friend’s academic prowess and capability. I see Her in my own mother and the sweet service she gives.

I see the absence of Her in modern religious discourse. But She is there. I believe She cares and is as ever-present as our loving Heavenly Father. Several geometric symbols are utilized throughout this piece. Heaven, which is eternal, is represented by a circle while the four corners of the Earth are represented by a square. I placed a large isosceles triangle within the two shapes to represent the moment where the divine feminine joins the two spheres. The triangle is a shape of strength and has historically been used to convey femininity. It is used here to represent Heavenly Mother specifically. The symbols converge to create a new symbol. To me, it represents my earthly striving to connect with my Heavenly Mother and the moments where I see Her influence within my own mortal world. The small, imperfect triangles are meant to represent the mortal women around us. Though flawed, they point towards our Heavenly Mother and emulate Her shape. Her hands are shown around the girl to show that She is present and ready to embrace us when we seek Her."

The Story Behind "You Are Mine"

In the painting, Mary is leaning into Jesus weeping from the overwhelming feeling of relief, and comfort she was experiencing. Our imperfect nature is expected and completely forgiven when we surrender to Jesus Christ. He knows each of us by name, and no soul is forgotten.This is a moment of complete surrender to the safe embrace of the Savior who knows our shortcomings yet continues to love us nonetheless.We can be made whole through Him and his redeeming power. His forgiveness is offered to all who will turn around when he calls our name. Mary turned despite the state of her hardened heart and felt Jesus’ abundant love for her soul.

"This painting celebrates the blessing of having two little babies. I chose this clam color palette and included subtle halos on the mother and both babies to signify that all babies are so close to heaven, and the challenging work they require of their mother can bring her closer to heaven as well. I, myself have two little babies in heaven and love this as a remembrance of them."

The Story Behind "Out of Weakness Comes Strength"

"This painting came about as I was reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths tend to lie in doing things that have results. I love painting, knitting, and spending my time in productive, rather solitary ways. When it comes to the social graces, however,— dance, developing rich relationships, or exhibiting kindness and compassion— I am woefully unskilled. I wish that I could just ignore what are for me difficult and seemingly less necessary skills. Even though they are more difficult for me, I can see the value of developing them. Through my willingness to change, much effort, and Divine Aid, I can turn my dreaded weaknesses into strengths. I can become stronger than I ever imagined I could be."
