Minerva Teichert
The works of western American artist, Minerva Teichert, have received increasingly popular and critical acclaim in recent years. Today, Teichert is beloved among the LDS community as a woman who successfully combined faith and family and left an extraordinary legacy of artistic production.
John Hafen
John Hafen was a Swiss-born artist who immigrated to Utah as a child and quickly developed a passion for painting. After early training with pioneer artists in Payson, he co-founded the Utah Art Association in 1881 to support local talent. Though he studied academic art in Paris, John Hafen became best known for his soulful landscape paintings, seeking not technical perfection, but “the beautiful in line and color.”
James Christensen
James Christensen was born in 1942 in Culver City, California, and later studied painting at both UCLA and Brigham Young University. Known for his imaginative and fantastical style, James Christensen earned top honors throughout his career, including the Governor’s Award for Art, multiple Chesley Awards, and recognition as a “Utah Art Treasure.” His work left a lasting mark on both fine art and science fiction communities.
Liz Lemon Swindle
Liz Lemon Swindle is a renowned faith-based artist known for her deeply moving and realistic paintings that inspire believers around the world. After studying fine arts at Utah State University and launching her career in set design, she shifted her focus to spiritual themes in the early 1990s. Since then, Liz Lemon Swindle has received numerous honors—including recognition from Pope Benedict XVI—and her work is featured in collections, books, and exhibitions across the globe.
Dan Wilson
Dan Wilson is an award-winning fine artist from Lehi Utah. As a young boy Dan dove deep into art, always known as “that kid that doodles on everything”. After serving an LDS mission those artistic passions grew as he painted full time for his Major at UVU. After graduation he was taken under the wing of his mentor William Whitaker, who pushed him hard to improve his skills. Dan Wilson paints and teaches out of his home art studio where he is supported by his beautiful wife and six children.
Rose Datoc Dall
Rose Datoc Dall is a Filipina-American figurative artist known for her vibrant, spiritually resonant paintings centered on faith, motherhood, and identity. Born in Washington, D.C., she earned a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and later converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which deeply influenced her artistic focus. Her bold color palettes and modern compositions have earned recognition, including multiple awards from the Church’s International Art Competition. Now based in Utah, Dall continues to create symbolic works that connect with contemporary audiences seeking meaningful expressions of belief.
