Something about Mary this time of year always gets me. Maybe it’s the part where I imagine how she rode on a donkey nearing labor.. or the fear Joseph must have felt as he watched Mary humbly bear through these pains and moments, just becoming parents for the first time. Maybe it’s the part on the journey home.. the days traveling back with a newborn baby. I’m terrified of sickness with my newborn, yet I have medical aid, a warm home, formula if needed, and countless blankets and clothing at hand. How did You do it Mary? It always brings me to tears. I think of postpartum depression and even nursing in her circumstances and many other things a Mother and baby go through during labor, delivery, and the time following.. the weather and elements as you hold your baby boy.. I walk through moments Mary must have and I fall apart.. but In the name of God she did all that was asked in the lowliest of circumstances, and made them the holiest in my heart, she is forever my Heroine.
