Richard Hull

I grew up on a farm in Washington, but even as a boy I knew that bugs, beans, and bales of hay weren’t my destiny—drawing in the margins of my math tests was. What started as doodles soon grew into a lifelong pursuit of creativity, leading me into a career as a graphic designer, illustrator, and eventually a professor at Brigham Young University. Since my first commission in 1970, I’ve illustrated for magazines, children’s books, and publishers such as Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, and MacMillan, as well as contributing regularly to the magazines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years my work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts, but at the heart of it all is my love for creating images that inspire, teach, and connect with people of all ages.
