The dove has always been a symbol of good. In the case of the Christ’s baptism, all four of the gospel writers depicted its presence as divine recognition of the event and the presence the Holy Spirit. It is amazing to think that the Creator, Him who through all things are made, walked amongst us as flesh and blood. It seems that every day He was here was a divine event. It would make sense that a dove, for that matter a flock of them, could have accompanied Christ everywhere he went.
