Story Behind the Art
12 X 17 Oil on Canvas
This acrylic diptych, sold as a pair, artfully represents the symbols of the tribes of Israel, using vibrant colors that correspond to the banners of each tribe, as derived from various historical sources. The names of the tribes are elegantly inscribed in italics in their original language, adding a layer of authenticity. Each painting features a central white square, symbolizing the Tribe of Levi, with either white/black or white/red elements. Their dual placement reflects the Tribe of Levi's unique role, as they lived among all the other tribes, often depicted yet seldom highlighted. The hand with a pitcher in one painting represents the Levites, who assisted the priests in purification rituals. Adjacent to this, the hands in the other painting represent the Kohanim (priests, descendants of Aaron), symbolizing their sacred duty to bless the people of Israel. The decorative style of this diptych will add a touch of magic and secret symbolism to any space, enhancing the ambience with its thoughtful design and arrangement. This artwork beautifully captures the interconnectedness of the tribes and the pivotal role of the Levitical and priestly families within the community.
Original artwork of Acrylic on Cardboard 15.8 x 11.4 in. Painted 2024.
About the Artist
About the Artist
I am a self-taught artist, born and raised in Ukraine. I was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1993 when it first started in my country. My journey as an artist began during my teenage years, but I put it aside to focus on my academic pursuits. In 2020, I reignited my passion for creating, returning to the affection I had once set aside.
In my art, I strive to find greatness in the simple things and highlight the often-overlooked beauty in the world around us. I aim to explore meaningful moments, often incorporating hidden details that reflect truth and invite deeper reflection. I firmly believe in the transformative power of art—not just as a visual medium, but as a way to reach into our homes and connect profoundly with our spirits.
