The scripture that inspired this set of paintings is found in Matt 25:2; “And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.” I think the parable of the bridegroom and the ten virgins is timeless. The clothes and styles of the virgins belong to no certain era because a parable can be applied to any era. The virgins have no certain geographic origin or race since the story pertains to all of Gods children. I am trying to convey the message that no matter who you are or where you are from, you can be found approaching Christ. Being wise or foolish is a choice we all make for ourselves. The wise virgins are shown in warm light symbolizing the warmth of Christs love. The foolish virgins are shown in cool light, demonstrating how cold life is without Christ in it. In the parable the bridegroom told the foolish virgins, "... I know you not” (verse 12). We must be wise and, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh" (verse 13).

*This original artwork set consists of 6 individual paintings, which are not sold separately. The sizes of the paintings are all 24 x 36 inches in both portrait and landscape.
