Living Waters merges a historically-based image of Christ with one that still feels visually familiar and spiritually strong. Christ's facial features and ethnicity portray what a Jewish Galilean man in the first century might have looked like. Christ's hair and beard have been left longer, reminiscent of the familiar (anglicized) images I grew up with. To depict the Savior as powerful and life-giving, I employed abstract teals and turquoise elements denoting Christ as the living water. He enlivens and sustains us. He is the key element to our mortal and eternal lives.
